The #CerealBoxChallenge, started by Yasna Grainger 15 years ago, was a way for Yasna to honor her father. Her father was a quiet man who cared deeply about helping people with food insecurities. The #CerealBoxChallenge, started by Yasna Grainger 15 years ago, was a way for Yasna to honor her father. Her father was a quiet man who cared deeply about helping people with food insecurities. He would take families food, but always left feeling that the families were in need of more help. Yasna grew up always thinking "we can do better."
In 2019, Brandie Craig and the McDonough Junior Women's Club joined forces with Yasna, and went from 50-100 boxes of cereal to 10,000 boxes collected and distributed to local food banks and organizations to help food insecurities and to help feed the homeless.
During Covid, the #CerealBoxChallenge took a break. This year, Yasna and Brandie are handing the program over to United Food Force in order to keep it going, keep the community involved, help the food insecure, the homeless, and those less fortunate.
